There is a lateral water hazard running across the fairway, about 230 yards distance from the white tees. Choose your club wisely here as the woods run the full length of the left side of this fairway but a well-placed tee shot will leave an excellent birdie opportunity with a short iron approach to the green of this par 4.

A straight away drive par 5 hole with out of bounds left. You’re far better off leaving it a little right, than flirting with the disaster-welcoming left side of the hole. If you’re BIG, and you’ve had that second bowl of Wheaties…you just might get to the dance floor with only two whacks. Just don’t plan on it. Good luck!

The shortest hole on the course. An accurate shot is required to master this par 3. Avoid being long or shots toward the left side of the bunker, as it slopes toward the woods and sure trouble. Checking the pin location is a must as there is a swail on the front of the green and a large ridge toward the back two-thirds of this green. Control and club selection means everything on this short hole.

Hole 4 – Par 4

Woods and tall heather run the length of the entire left hand side. This is a relatively short hole, making your club selection a priority once again. The green is accessible to the golfer who can work the shot from right to left, but a driver is not necessary unless you have that ability. A well-placed tee shot to the middle of the fairway will allow your approach shot to be made. The green slopes quite severely from right to left and depth is quite long.

Although this hole only measures 338 yards from the blue tees, it plays much longer due to the fairway being up hill. This dogleg right par 4 might entice you to cut the corner in an attempt to reach the green in one. Instead, follow the sighting stick to avoid the heather and deep sand bunkers at the front of this green, unless you’re daring of course!

The shortest par 4 of the course makes accuracy critical. The tee shot is made from an elevated tee with woods and water on the left and heather on the right. The green is very reachable for the longer hitters but the fairway narrows significantly from 100 yard marker in. The green slopes quickly from the back to the front making your putts and approach shots an experience. Once again, going long on this hole will be your misfortune.

Two options are presented for your tee shot. Left of the bunker in the rough is a shorter shot or you can play over the bunker which will put you in the fairway for a very reachable second shot to the green. This green is very small and usually very fast. Being long on this approach shot will only put you out of play and looking for another ball. Par on this par 4 is a very good score.

With a sloping green from the back to the front and sand bunkers along its left side, this par 3 can be a little intimidating. Birdies are in the mix if you can avoid the hazards in front of you and play the wind to your advantage.

A par 4 hole that is very attainable with two extremely well-placed shots to the green. Hazards on the left and water directly in front of you will come into play. The approach is bordered by sand bunkers on the left and right sides of the fairway. Being long here to this elevated green will only put you in the club house for an early snack and a chat with the staff.

This par 3 boasts the largest green at Willow Wood. The fairway was replaced with a pond and the approximately 150 yard carry from the white tees is all in your club selection. If you use nature’s ball wash however, there is a drop area on the other side of the water when approaching the green.

This hole appears to be straight away, but don’t let that fool you. Sand bunkers to your left and out of bounds to your right are compounded by a fairway that steadily proceeds uphill. Again, follow the sighting sticks for accurate ball placement. A par 4 on this hole is a good score.

Big Hitters, let ‘er rip! This par 5 is very reachable if you can stay out of the bunkers. Don’t be long on your second shot and that birdie is in the bag.

Again, let the driver go here, just not too far right as the heather is in play. There’s no trouble here to the left. The green is very long so club selection is important. Be sure to check your pin placement. Just a hint, this is probably the fastest green on the course!

Hole 14 – Par 4

The most difficult par 4 hole on the back nine. A slight dogleg right fairway with nothing but heather and woods on your right. Sand bunkers block your approach from the left side of the fairway and being long here will only have you reaching for that crying towel. Your approach shot plays slightly uphill and the green slopes from right to left. Birdie here will gain a stroke on the rest of the playing field.

This short dogleg right par 4 can produce an excellent birdie opportunity for the long ball hitter who can play the cut. The safe play is left center of the fairway leaving a short iron to the green. The sighting stick will guide you toward the easiest approach. Being too long here will only have you reaching for another ball, as the bunkers drop off behind the green toward the woods.

Your target off the tee is over the fairway bunker at the extremely large tree on the right side of the fairway. However too long and right of the tree can reach the hazard and out of bounds. The hole is a dogleg left and a well-placed tee shot will leave a great birdie or eagle opportunity. The second shot is uphill and plays longer than it appears, especially to a back pin. It is recommended that you stay below the hole on the red pin placements as this green slopes severely from back to front.

A straight forward par 3. Avoid long and left, as the weeds are a hazard that come into play. It may be short but not easy by any means.

From the back tee, this can be the most intimidating shot of the day. To carry the hazard is only about 150 yards to the left and 180 yards to the right. The line is just to the right of the left side fairway bunker. A good tee shot will leave a short iron in and another birdie opportunity. The second shot is all uphill so take enough club. Birdie here is a great way to end the round. Being too long will get you introduced to the clubhouse staff.
